Nora the Explorer, Chaska Edition

Nora and Amber were discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning, both fully healthy and ready to head back home. The outfit we dressed her in was about three sizes too big for her (great parents, huh?) but it kept her warm and cozy during her first car ride which was pretty uneventful. Grandma Debbie met us at the house and helped us get settled with her. She helped us with our first bath, and made a few snacks for us as well.

Welcomed home by balloons from Auntie Katie

We spent a lot of yesterday putting up Christmas decorations and just getting to know our little girl. A few fun facts about our little lady:

* Nora LOVES to eat. A lot. What she seems to enjoy the most is feeding, then taking about a 10 minute breather before going bonkers for more food. I equate it to a person who goes to a Chinese buffet for lunch, then hides in the bathroom and comes out for the dinner buffet. Technically they haven't had "all they can eat" yet.

* Nora will be a thumb sucker. We've caught her double fisting her hands in her mouth, doing the Dr. Evil pose, and last but not least the classic thumb sucking maneuver.

I will continue to be good for...one miiiiiiiiiiilion dollars. (said in Dr. Evil voice.)

* Not only does Nora have daddy's looks, she also inherited his digestive system. She poops, we change her, and then 10 seconds later she gets us again. During one change this morning, Matt just finished wiping her bottom and then she pooped all over her new diaper before it was even closed. Matt wiped her up, put a new diaper underneath and then she promptly peed AND pooped again. Matt freaked out a bit and dropped her legs into her poop. Whoops.

Mommy and Daddy have been doing well with their lack of sleep, although Matt did lose concept of time and made a Lean Cuisine at 10:00 AM the other day (he thought it was noon), and also was confused as to why 7 lbs, 5 ounces was less than 7 lbs, 12 ounces.

There are many wonderful traits about Nora, but what we love so much right now is her calm demeanor. She rarely makes more noise than a squeeky toy when she is hungry or is dirty, otherwise she has been content to be in our arms and just explore her new surroundings.

After a tough day at the office, Nora relaxes in her baby recliner.
