Visit from Anne K

Our friend Anne K came over to see Nora and meet Jackson today. She is the person who is partly to 'blame' for Matt and I meeting each other. She was turning 21 and her roommates rented a bus to go around town. I got introduced to Matt as "Adam H's ex-girlfriend" so then I had to explain that. He walked me home and called me the next day to ask me to go to a movie and ice cream...and the rest is history! Anne has remained a great friend and we wish we could see more of her, but she is a busy international traveler working for a jewelry company.

Coloring

Using her new markers and coloring book from Danita and Harlee

Her "new smile" and her coloring at the big table.

Nora is LOVING coloring. I will ask "nora do you want to color?" she will shake her head slowly up and down (she can shake her head no side to side very fast, but going up and down it looks like she has to think about it more!). Once she sees that I have the colors for her, she runs to a spot on the carpet and sits down all excited to color. It is a good way to keep her entertained while I am feeding Jackson. She is actually really good (ok, maybe I am biased since I am her mother!!)

Nora's New Smile

Yep here it is...
One day I asked Nora to smile and she winked her eyes and then scrunched her face up and showed her teeth. It is hilarious in person, this picture doesn't do it justice! Now when you say smile, this is what you get. Oh she is such a sweetie!

Uncle Tanner and Brittany's Visit

Uncle Tanner and Brittany came to visit us on their way to the Twins game. Since my whole family loves the Twins, we have had a bunch of visitors stop by as they are driving to or from the Twins games. Gotta love Brittany holding the baby and Tanner in the leather armchair!!!

1st Package in the Mail

Jackson received his first package from the same people that gave Nora her first package.

My aunt and uncle Danita and Harlee sent him an adorable bug sweatshirt and plaid shorts and hat and a cute onesie with a tie on it. They didn't forget dear Nora--she got cool markers and a hello kitty coloring book. So sweet of them to think of our kiddos!

Jackson 2 week check up

Jackson had his 2 week check up today. He already has a double ear infection. I hope this is a fluke and not the start to a chronic ear problem! He has to take medicine 2 times a day-poor guy. Otherwise he is growing and doing well. He had some jaundice right away which is getting better. It helps that we try to be outside everyday.

Weight: 8 lbs 12 oz 50%
Height: 21.5 inches 75%
Head Circumference: 36.5cm 30%

Nora was in the 50% for weight and 85% for height at this age so both kids are pretty similar (at this point!)

Nora would win "American Idol-Toddler Edition"

So Cute!

Erin and Jackson

We had our friends Tony and Erin over for dinner, well they brought dinner and we offered up our house! It was so sweet of them to bring over food for us and they also brought over their dog, Logan so Nora was in heaven playing with him. Well during dinner Erin says "I forgot to tape American Idol" and it is one of the final ones so she asks if we can go downstairs after dinner. Sure! Nora comes with us and she is singing and dancing along with all the songs with Lauren and Scotty. I don't normally follow American Idol, but we may have to in the future as Nora was LOVING it. I bought this tape recorder with microphones at a garage sale and she needs to have both microphones in order to sing!!!

Jackson's 1st Trip to Farm

I had to go pick up Nora at my parent's house and Matt was feeling under the weather, PLUS he doesn't like driving!! So I went on the drive with my 2 week old myself. Grandma and Grandpa U took great care of Nora and Courtney watched her on Friday. I went to pick Nora up at Brandon & Courtney's and she didn't even realize I was there...then she FINALLY looked up and saw me and ran over and gave me a hug! Oh how I missed her. I am glad she was loved by the family and now feels more comfortable with them! Jackson came with to the farm and he was a good rider--although he got hungry about 2 hours into the trip so I had to pull over in Montevideo to nurse him. I got some looks from cars who were driving past looking in thinking 'why is this woman in the backseat w/ her kid?' Jackson was a good boy at the farm...slept, ate, pooped, repeat. He got to meet both great grandmas, great aunt Laurie, cousin Ashley and Laney. We all went to church on Sunday and ate at the Dairy Queen. I then drove back to Chaska in the rain (this was the day that there were BAD storms in the south metro!)Grandma and Nora

Grandma and Jackson...she finished his blanket! She has crocheted all of her 9 grandkids blankets. Jackson's is that pretty turquoise one in the background of this photo.

Nora's 1st Nights away from Mommy!!!!

My mom and dad took Nora from Tuesday until the weekend so Matt and I could bond with Jackson and so Nora could get some one's undivided attention/love! She is not quite sure what to think about all this. She loves babies, but this one ISN'T going away. My mom and I met in Hutchinson and she took Nora. This is the longest time I have ever been away from her. I have only spent 1 night here or there away from her in her 17 months. I know she will have a blast and I want her to get to know and be comfortable with Grandma and Grandpa as well. She slept good for them, she ate good for them, she was a bit shy of new people, she got to go see horses, sheep, calves at a neighbors farm. She was kept busy! I am so glad we got the time to have a bit of downtime (if you can call it that when you have a 1 week old) and that Nora got loved up by the grandparents.

Nora's Teeth

Nora now has her top two 1-year molars and the bottom two are coming in.

Visitors

We have had tons of visitors...it has been fun seeing everyone. We have also had so many meals provided for us....how blessed are we?! I am on the Hospitality Team for my MOPS group and a bunch of ladies from leadership committee brought meals, a dear neighbor brought over 2 meals, and another friend brought over wonderful stir fry. We feel so blessed to have so many great people in our lives!

1st Bath

1st Bath for Jackson...Jackson wasn't too keen on this. We filled up the whale tub and brought it into Nora's room for all of us to help in this process. It was a QUICK bath. The last photo doesn't quite get Nora who is trying to get IN the tub, clothes and all!!

He's Here!!!!

He's here....FINALLY!

Jackson Matthew Forslund was born at Ridgeview Medical Center on 5/9/2011 at 6:36 pm weighing 8 lbs 3 oz and 20" long. He is beautiful and healthy.

We were only at the hospital about 45 minutes before he was born. We parked the car at 5:47pm (left EVERYTHING in the car, the camera, our bags, my purse, etc). The receptionist told us to walk up to the 3rd floor to maternity. We found a wheelchair to take me up. I was feeling ok, MUCH better than I was at this point with Nora. I remember not being able to respond or talk or open my eyes when I was going up to maternity ward with Nora. With Jackson, I was joking with Matt, I could walk, I could laugh. We got up to the maternity ward and the receptionist up there called a nurse to come get us. Matt and I just waited at the "locked door". A lady who was checking out with her newborn son at the same time said "you are going to have a baby?---you don't even look pregnant" I don't know if that makes you feel GOOD or NOT when you are in active labor, probably at a 9cm already, but for some reason it made me laugh! I had a few contractions while waiting for a nurse to open these "locked doors". Receptionist called again to nurse and finally nurse let us in. (I put locked doors in parentheses because I guess every other visitor said they were OPEN so we wasted precious time waiting at locked doors. The receptionist lady should've told us to just "go right in") Well, by the time the nurse came and got us and we were in the triage room to be checked it was 6pm. I was a 9cm with contractions every 1.5 minutes. Nurse asked if I wanted to walk or ride to the delivery room. Do people actually WALK when they are 9cm? won't the baby fall out? awww...I chose to ride! We got to the delivery room, my doctor had just left for his daughters soccer game so I got the oncall doctor, Dr. Freitas, and she was great. The nurses were great, Matt was great. I didn't open my eyes during the WHOLE 15 minutes (ha ha, I think it may have been a good 20 minutes!!) of pushing. I don't know if I should be jealous or happy that I don't get to use the amenities of the beautiful facility at the hospital. The maternity wing was built right before we had Nora and "the perks" were one of the reasons we chose that hospital. Oh well, I guess I am glad I don't have hours or days of labor...just a quick half hour and then here is baby!!

I had an epidural (barely) with Nora and Jackson came au natural...no drugs, nothing. It is interesting having both birthing experiences. We'll see what we end up doing for baby #3.
